Berceuse in B-flat Major

Composer: BRIDGE, Frank
  • Bridge wrote Berceuse in B-flat Major for violin (or cello) and piano in 1901, early on in the composer’s career (while still studying underĀ Sir Charles Villiers Stanford). Following the work’s publication, several other versions of the piece were arranged in the following years, including:
    • For violin and strings
    • For small orchestra
    • For large orchestra (orchestrated by Hubert Bath)
    • For piano solo1
  • A berceuse in music means a lullaby, typically written in 6/8 time to create a soothing, rocking movement.
