Piano Concerto No. 2 in c minor

Composer: SAUER, Emil von
  • Emil von Sauer wrote his second piano concerto in 1901. The piece consists of four movements, played consecutively without interruption, almost as though the piece is a single extended movement.
  • Sauer dedicated the piece to “ma chère mère” (Sauer’s first piano teacher was his mother).1
    • Listen for – the sudden introduction of a tender new theme that resembles a lullaby in the first movement, which may or may not have any relation to the piece’s dedicatee.2
